7.      How is the plot of the movie ?

a.       Exposition : the film starts with Farhan and Raju getting some information about Rancho who has gone missing after their graduation. Farhan who would be take off, he decide to cancel his flight to meet Rancho. And Raju run out with his short pants after getting information about Rancho. They went to the top of campus. They met with Chatur, who reminds them of a bet they had undertaken ten years a go. They supposed that they’ll meet Rancho, but in fact, they met with Chatur. Chatur showed that he has become a successful businessman.  Then, Chatur taken them to meet Rancho. After that, the story takes us to flashback when they studied as student engineering, when they first met at the residences of the Imperial College of Engineering.

b.      Rising action :

At college, they face many problems. Especially from the Dean of the college, Prof. Viru Sahastrabuddhe a.k.a ViruS. He use his both hands to write. Rancho always make him annoyed and angry because of his action by giving creative or unorthodox answer. Because of that, the Dean considered him that he has given bad influence to Farhan and Raju. Everytime Rancho make him annoyed because of his act, the Dean always call Farhan and Raju to his office. And because of their action, the Dean call them as “Three Idiot”. The Dean, ViruS has his own idea of the perfect student. Virus’s model student is Chatur Ramalingam a.k.a Silencer, who is ambitious and believes that textbook memorization  of engineering concepts is the way to success. He is good memorization without comprehend. So, Rancho humiliates Chatur, who is awarded the honour of making a speech at an award ceremony, by replacing some words with an obscenity,  which has been written by the librarian. Cathur’s speech becomes the laughing stock  of the audiences. Because of that incident, he vowed to see the three idiots again, especially Rancho, after ten years, to find out who is the more successful engineer.

c.       Climax :

On the night of the final exam, Rancho and Farhan stole the test to give to Raju, but Raju refused. ViruS discovered them, and he expelled them. On their way out of school, they saw Mona is suffering from labor pains and couldn’t be taken to the hospital because of the flood. They took her to the recreation center of the school and, with his invention and compassionate nature, Rancho delivered the baby.

d.      Falling action :

Their graduation day was the last time they saw Rancho. He was never seen anymore, until Chatur ask them to meet Rancho. But Rancho who they met is not the real Rancho. With this discovery, they continued their journey to find Rancho. before tthat, they taken pia from their wedding to meet Rancho. Until they found a school, a school of invention and of various things they were sure Rancho would think of doing.

e.       Resolution :

After that, Rancho was surprised to see pia driving towards him in bridal dress and he was more surprised to see his old friends who came to meet him. Most surprised of all was Chatur when he found out that Rancho is pungsukh Wangdu, the scientist he has been closing up a deal with him for his business.

8.      What moral values are tried to be conveyed by the movie ?

Here there are some moral values that we catch after watched this movie.

a.    Do what makes you happy, don’t do anything because of forcefulness. But do something based on our skill and our passion. If our passion is on art, we should study hard about art, because when you learn about others but your soul is art, you’ll do something not with your heart, and it can give bad impact to our result. Maybe you’ll be success, but you’ll never be happy. Because we don’t do that with our heart.

b.    Learning isn’t all about rank, high scores, and pressure to achieve high position. Most of our education system is to pressure the students to learn in order getting high scores. Actually, the most important of learning is when we can understand what the teachers teach, and we can use the knowledge that we have got, so that we can apply it in society. Because if our purpose to go to school just for getting high scores so that we can achieve best rank, many days later, many years later, we’ll forget the things that we have tried to learn.

c.    Learning isn’t about what we get now, but it’s more about who you will become after finished your studies. When we can get high scores or best rank in the class, it sure that we’ll be happy. But it’s not truly important. The real important is how we can improve our ability to face the real life for the next. Because in reality, rank doesn’t define who you are, rank doesn’t label how good you are, and rank doesn’t determine your success.

d.   Trust ourselves and don’t fear. We should face it with self-confidence. If we know our ability, and we know that we can do it, we should do it without fear. Because fear won’t bring us to the end, it’s trusting and courage that would be help us to arrive there.

 

9.      What are your favorite scenes, lines or dialogs in the movie? Why ?

Basicly, we love all of scenes in this movie. And also we love the storyline of this movie. We can’t imagine what will be happen for the next scenes when we watched this movie. There are many lessons that we can take from this movie.

Here there are some favorite scenes, lines, and dialogs.

a.       Our favorite scene is when in classroom and the lecturer ask the definition about machine. Rancho answer it simply. After giving a simple definition of a machine, the lecturer didn’t accepted it and Chatur answer it as same as book, it was complicated answer. Rancho was sent outside classroom. But then he went back to take something, and the lecturer ask him. Rancho answer it so complicated. And it make the lecturer confuse because of that.

b.      Another scene, when they came late to take part on exam. After they passed the exam, the lecturer didn’t accepted it. But because Rancho was curious, and the lecturer didn’t know their roll number, they scramble the test papers that was arranging by the lecturer. And they run.

c.       After Rancho helped pia’s sister, he went, but ViruS stopped him, and give him a special pen.

Movie summary

Farhan, Raju, and Rancho are three engineering student at the Imperial College of Engineering, one of the best colleges in India. They are studying there for different reasons. Farhan is studying engineering to fulfil his family’s wishes, although he want to be a wildlife photographer, while Raju comes from a poor family and being engineer  in order to improve his family’s financial situation, and Rancho is studying  because he is passionate about engineering. Rancho studies for the pleasure of building machines.

Meanwhile, Rancho falls in love with Virus’s daughter, Pia, a medical student. When Rancho, Raju, and Farhan crash her sister’s wedding in order to get free meal. They faced a big problem anymore with Virus. They continued to anger ViruS, although Rancho always to be the first in every exam, and he always sat beside ViruS, while Chatur is always second, Farhan and Raju are inevitably in the last two positions. Rancho though feeling something special for pia, but he couldn’t say it. A fact known to both Farhan and Raju. So, in one of their drinking sessions, they made a bet that if Rancho would be able to admit his true feelings to pia, Farhan will pursue his love for photography and Raju will let go of his fears and face the world courageously. Rancho accepted the bet and expressed his feelings to pia, and ViruS knew their action on their way out of his house after pissing on his door.

Because of their action, ViruS threatened Raju to expel him from the college, but Raju begged not to expel. And ViruS ask him two choices, Raju can stay at the college, but Rancho will be out. It was hard choices for Raju, and he choosed to jump off the building to commit suicide. Rancho, Farhan, and their friends tried everything to revive him from his state of coma. And they succed. Raju went back to school for the interview with employers. And he was accepted.

Movie Analysis

This movie was amazing. There are many lessons that we can take from this movie. This movie has teached us how face the problem. Whatever the problem in life is, just say to yourself “All is well”. This won’t solve the problem, but it will give the courage to face it. Chase excellence and success will follow. There are many scenes that can make us laugh out loudly, and can make us falling our tears. This movie taken us into the deep story . we can’t imagine them in any role. We can’t guess what will be happen after one scene to another.

The plot is mix, maybe. First we take to the present story, after that we take to flashback when they in college. And it back to the present, but we take to flashback anymore. But, most of them, we really like this movie. It is an inspiring movie, and it recommended for us, especially for us a student. There are many good messages that want to share to us. It’s highly entertaining us. What a great movie that we’ve ever seen. . All of the characters have got successful to act in this movie. They can set deeply to each character that they play.

This movie has teached us, we should do everything for pleasure, do what make us happy to do that. We shouldn’t do something because of the forcefulness. And the parents should understand what the passion among their child. parents should push them to improve their skill, so that they can be what they want to be. Because every people born with each dreams. After that, they should work hard to make their dreams come true. Don’t push them to do something that they don’t like, because it can be pressure for them. So that it can influence to their study.

This movie is also tell about education system. We can see that most of school always teach us how to get high scores, and how to get best rank. But the most important thing is how we can improve our ability to face the real life for the next. As we know that now a days, people want to achieve the high position to get a lot of money than their real interest and their ability.
